Deciding when I could do with a little bit of help to understand ourselves, the underlying motivations driving us to do the things I do and having the desire to change something about these, I see as a huge personal strength.
I use an integrated, formulation driven approach which is tailored to individual needs using evidence based ‘tired and tested’ methods and techniques. Therapy can help an individual to process previous emotional trauma, overcome some of life’s obstacles, change their thinking in some way for the better, understand themselves and their motivations that drive them to behave in unhelpful ways.
I can also provide treatment for traumas that have occurred, either as a single event e.g. an accident, or as multiple traumas that have occurred over a number of years. This would likely include a combination of EMDR and CBT treatments.
I would aim to talk to you over the first two or so sessions, to come up with a hypothesis about what it is that is driving the problems that are troubling you in the present, if there is no identifiable single causative incident.
